Yo D
Wish I could make Greg's gig 2 nite...maybe next time. Want to see the Thick Bros tomorrow at Cafe Cordiale? Funkish music w/a EW&F feel.

I think Pick-up sounds fine! Is that your new Dunnet snare? It cuts through nicely.

Funny how playing a tune just a little too fast can totally kill a groove (Cough, Dave Weckl, Cough, The Chicken cough cough!)

Yeah, Dave does kill the chicken. The solo's kick ass at that speed though, so i'll let it off for that. And it's Dave playing, FFS!

Very very nice. I think this is pretty much perfect tempo. I think your only weakness might be your guitarist. A lot of the time, he's not exactly in time, especially when playing rhythm. Were you recording live or part by part? Were you using a click? You may want to experiment for the best way to work. Do you use sound isolation booths? If the drums are being recorded at the same time as the guitarist is playing, he/she may find it more difficult that if he were in an iso. But other than that, it's pretty perfect. Your keys player has got it going as well!

Danny your playing sounds great! I like the sound of your kit and the blushda's.

As far as tempo goes, right in the beginning, I thought the guitarist laid down a pretty nice groove and tempo. The sax really pushed the tempo at the top of the melody and the whole band followed.

Overall the band sounds pretty good!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Exactly what I felt!

It's live though and those things do often happen. It's a hard job we have sometimes, to pull back rushers. Nice job anyways Danny.
The live version I have of the AWB is rushed too.
I love this tune very much. My favourite of the whole "Burning for Buddy". Ferrone's backbeat is so perfectly laid back. Perfect tempo and groove. It gives me shivers.
My brother's funk/disco band start their show with it. I sometimes go see them only for this tune and then leave (must have seen the show tens of times...)

Thank you all for the great feedback. I have TONS of respect for the people on this board. Everyone's comments are right in line of what I felt. That's the thing I love about recording performances: pick yourself apart! AND learn, grow, improve, etc.

Thanks everyone!

Danny

LAD,

You sound just fine. It's always a
group effort and that this thing did
not run to the bathroom is to your
credit. I love it! Hot tune!
